Nachiket Celebrating with champagne I started my career while I was in school earning my bachelor's in Computer Technology. I worked as a teacher and computer technician. I learnt to assemble, repair and maintain computers very early in engineering school. I moon-lighted as a computer instructor teaching computer fundamentals and programming languages like Basic and C. I dabbled in writing software for local business early on. This provided a very unique customer centric thought process.

I started attending trade shows and expos in my 3rd year. The first expo my team and I participated was 'Shodh 95' in Pune. I loved the experience. We didn't win the prize but we surely made an impression. The project was called SOFTLEPS (Software Simulation for Law Enforcement and Public Service). This was a tremendous learning opportunity for me. Explaining the project and the possibilities was so inspiring and motivating. The project was to demonstrate the optimization of law enforcement using satellite based tracking mechanism for all law enforcement vehicles. The only problem was, no one understood how such technology can be cost effective. And now, you can GPS devices for less than 50$. As much as the project sounded like science fiction, we had fun building it. We designed and built a virtual city using C. We animated car positions and simulated 'crime calls'. Nachiket at Expo

I graduated College in 1996. My first 'professional' job was in Bangalore. I worked for R&D based company developing Interactive TV. I was part of a very smart bunch of people and were the first team to develop Interactive TV over analog cable. This job was extreme learning experience for me. This was 16 hour days and sleeping at dawn kind of job. We were the first team, and probably the only in the world, to develop Interactive TV over analog cable. Above is the photo of the team (my brother Shyamal is not in the photo) as it appeared in TV Guide article in Bangalore.
